Ah, ja, sorry. Dat onderscheid wordt in het Engels meestal niet gemaakt. Beide zijn numbers al zou je voor cijfer de term figure of numeral kunnen gebruiken. Je bent niet in een positie om dat de beoordelen want je hebt moeite met lezen (zoals aangegeven in je eerste bericht op dit forum, jaren geleden), vooral als het in het Engels is. Je vindt hem een crank maar hebt daar geen bewijs voor. Je staat al weken aan de zijlijn boe te roepen.

Ik heb een milde vorm van woordblindheid dat is waar, maar dat betreft het foutloos schrijven, daar wil ik wel eens vreemde zaken opschrijven.
Maar met lezen en begrijpen heb ik daar geen probleem mee.
Ik heb alle recht hem zo te noemen, Wiskunde is namelijk mijn vak geweest en ook het beoordelen van andermans (studenten) werk.

Maar zegt niets over de marketingmethodes van deze Mathematische Illuministen; die blijken meer uit de aaneengeregen flapteksten.
De ware regen aan boeken en video’s met telkens weer redeneringen die voor de meesten onvatbaar zijn en telkens blijken te gaan over hetzelfde geeft mij de indruk dat de marketing belangrijker is dan de bewijsvoering.
Naslaan van Stanford Philosophical Education leert dat
Het Principe van Voldoende Reden (PSR) en
Simplicity (= Occam)
Telkens weer opnieuw en practisch eindeloos worden herkauwd en/of worden ingespannen voor een of andere zienswijze die afstand probeert te nemen van de “achterlijke” wetenschap.
Met vanzelf allerlei vertakkingen naar verlichting!

Dat is een van de redenen geweest waarom ik omstreeks 2014 mijn interesse begon te verliezen, al had ik, zo besef ik mij nu, nog een hoop te leren. In de tussenliggende jaren heb ik mij vooral beziggehouden met geschiedenis, enerzijds vanwege de variatie en anderzijds omdat dit onderwerp zich uitstekend leent voor audio (in tegenstelling tot wiskunde, dat veel meer visuele toelichting vergt).
Zoals beloofd, hier de passage over homeopathie (en een vermelding van het placebo-effect en bijna-dood-ervaringen), uit The God Equation:
Ik vermoedde dat de vermelding van homeopathie mogelijk te maken had met Hockney's waardering voor Rupert Sheldrake, en dat blijkt te kloppen. Een citaat uit hetzelfde boek:How and why does homeopathy prove so successful for the considerable number of people who swear to its efficacy? As far as the scientific community is concerned, there is no scientific phenomenon associated with homeopathy and it relies purely on the placebo effect. When a patient takes the remedy, they are adding to their own informational Fourier transform the information associated with the active ingredient. They are then able to use this new curative information to resolve their medical condition. The absence of the physical ingredient is irrelevant because homeopathic remedies work via the mind rather than the body. They provide vital supplementary information to the mind which can then cure the physical ailment by using that information.
Conventional medicine works in a two-fold manner; physically and mentally. The active ingredient is both physically and informationally present. Therefore, conventional medicine will always be your best bet, and we are not denying that for a moment. However, homeopathic medicine can without question complement conventional medicine and offer alternative treatment paths. Homeopathic medicine instead of being both physical and informational is purely informational, but this by no means fatally impairs its effectiveness. Ultimately, nothing is more important than information. If we had more powerful minds, physical medicines would be rendered redundant.
It’s certainly possible to envisage a time when the main purpose of medicine will not be to provide physical cures but purely mental, informational cures. It does not matter how the information gets “uploaded” to the mental Fourier transform. It could be by some solution absorbed into the body, or a pill, or by some technological link via computers. All that matters in the end is that critical information is added to our mental Fourier transform to allow us to effect bodily repairs and cures.
What is a near-death experience? It’s when some severe trauma temporarily dissolves the mind-matter Fourier relationship and a person starts to experience life without a body. When the physical trauma is resolved, the old Fourier relationship springs back into place and the person is back to normal.
Consciousness is a curious phenomenon because it seems to sit on the body side of the Fourier relationship (because it has to be attuned to what the body is doing), but it is of course on the mental side. When the body dies, conventional consciousness dies too because it is so much associated with the physical body. Instead, a higher consciousness takes over.
All valid paranormal phenomena occur via the ontologically real mental domain. Rupert Sheldrake’s morphic resonance occurs via that mechanism. Homoeopathy takes place via the mental domain.
The psychic gift that many ordinary people have (but don’t realise it) is intuition. Intuition is about plucking answers out of “thin air” (i.e. out of the mental domain via the Fourier transform). Many “psychics” have powerful intuition and become convinced they have special powers. Unfortunately, intuition isn’t something that can take place to order, and psychics – in order to make a living – start “enhancing” their gift i.e. they cheat. Soon, they have descended into charlatanry and are relentlessly exploiting gullible people, yet they will go on believing themselves to be “authentic”.
The exploits of frauds shouldn’t be allowed to destroy the credibility of the mental domain. It really is there, and it’s the most important thing in our lives. The fact that it’s not susceptible to any straightforward physical experimentation can hardly be held against it. After all, being non-physical is what defines it, so why would we expect to gain physical knowledge of it? It’s impossible. The verification, validation and falsification principles deployed by scientists regarding physical phenomena are invalid regarding mental phenomena. Mental phenomena will always be probabilistic and subjective while the physical world appears mostly deterministic and objective. They are chalk and cheese. New techniques have to be developed to reliably probe the mental domain.
What is our best hope in this regard? Mathematics!

Yep. Ik ben me ervan bewust dat hij al eens ter sprake is gekomen op dit forum.
Er zijn raakvlakken maar het is beslist niet dezelfde club. Ik zag zojuist dat Thomas Stark een boek over Sheldrake heeft geschreven: The Sheldrake Shift: A Critical Evaluation of Morphic Resonance. De omschrijving (nadruk in bold type door mij toegevoegd):een mooi select groepje zou ik zeggen.
Rupert Sheldrake is an astute critic of scientific materialism. He is not an astute critic of his own system of formative causation and morphic resonance. The final theory of everything – ontological mathematics – can be used to reveal the fallacies that bedevil scientific materialism and morphic resonance alike. Sheldrake’s system can be viewed as a mystical shift away from scientism. It hasn’t found a coherent, rational way to replace the scientific worldview. Everything that Sheldrake seeks to accomplish with his ill-defined morphic fields can be analytically achieved by ontological Fourier mathematics. Er bestaat niet zoiets als "laws of the mind-matter Fourier transform". Al deze "wiskunde" verandert niets aan het feit dat als je een groep zieke mensen een homeopathisch middel geeft of je geeft een groep mensen een placebo, dat uiteindelijk beide groepen achteraf even goed/slecht af zijn. Zelfs als we ervan uitgaan dat er een onbekende werking van homepathie zou kunnen uitgaan, blijven we uiteindelijk vastzitten in de vaststelling dat een middel met deze onbekende werking net het zelfde resultaat oplevert als een middel zonder deze onbekende werking.
Hoeveel "wiskunde" je ook loslaat om te bewijzen dat homeopathie toch zou werken, daarmee illustreer je alleen maar dat mensen tot de raarste kronkels komen om toch maar te bewijzen wat ze willen bewijzen.

Ik zie die passage dan ook niet als bewijs dat homeopathie werkt. Zoals ik al vermoedde, beschrijft het "hoe het zou kunnen werken." In de passage wordt "informatie" genoemd, maar zonder uitwijding over het medische nut van alle door homeopaten toegepaste "informatie" (sepia, coffea, arsenicum, cinnabaris etc.). Het is een zeer theoretische behandelmethode en ook Hockney's verdediging ervan is theoretisch en algemeen, niet specifiek.

Dat is flauw. Jij komt hier ons vertellen hoe Hockney ons kan duideljik maken via ontologische wiskunde hoe het idealisme correct is en wanneer er kritiek komt op de woorden van Hockney, trek je je terug in de positie dat zijn woorden beschrijven hoe het zou kunnen werken.
Daarmee reduceer je zijn woorden tot fantasie. Fantasie beschrijft ook hoe het zou kunnen zijn.
Daarmee maak je Hockney ook onbruikbaar als gids. Want van alle zaken die hij beschreven heeft zoals ze zouden kunnen zijn, zijn het anderen die uitmaken hoe de zaken werkelijk zijn.

Thomas Stark debiteert in iets andere woorden dat de zieke zijn semantische vermogens dient in te schakelen.
Dat suggereert dat bij Hockney de “betekeniskracht” aan het middel is gerelateerd en bij Stark aan de persoon.
Roept duidelijke associaties op met falende gebedsgenezingen:
Genees je niet dan geloof je niet genoeg.
Ik zie geen enkele aanwijzing dat de rest van het gedachtengoed van de Ontologische Mathematiek wel veilig op ons beider eigen bestaan kan worden toegepast.
Alleen veilig genoeg als je het nooit toepast.
De kans dat Hockney, Stark en Morgue elkaar af en toe schaterlachend opbellen schat ik dus hoger dan de semantische werking van “niets” zoals ze die hebben afgeleid uit hun scheermes zonder snijvlak.
Telepathie en waarlijk astraal reizen zijn volgens Stark ook even klaar als een klontje. Dit voor het geval je nog verdere aspiraties hebt.

99 is echter niet een cijfer, maar twee cijfers die samen een nummer vormen.
In het Engels is het gebruikelijke woord voor cijfer: digit. Cypher wordt ook wel gebruikt.
