Gevallen waarbij agenten worden geslagen, worden in het algemeen geen wereldnieuws. Maar er zijn wel meerdere gevallen geweest van dodelijke schietpartijen op politieagenten. Bovendien worden agenten die optreden bij rellen regelmatig met stenen en soortgelijke voorwerpen bekogeld. Maar let op: ik noem bovenstaande voorbeelden uitsluitend omdat je er herhaaldelijk om vraagt. Wat mij betreft is dit een secundaire kwestie. Ik vind de demonisering van Trump aanhangers, alsof het letterlijk fascisten waren, veel relevanter voor de spanningen in Amerika. Het grote verschil tussen Antifa en BLM is dat de Black Bloc Antifa activisten zich doelbewust onherkenbaar maken om ongestraft vandalisme en geweld te bedrijven, terwijl mensen die aan BLM demonstraties deelnemen in het algemeen niet op geweld uit zijn. Soms monden BLM demonstraties uit in geweld en het leegroven van winkels, maar dit is in het algemeen spontaan en impulsief, terwijl Antifa functioneert op basis van een uitgewerkte strategie die 100% om geweld draait.
Met de nadruk op Black Bloc. Antifa = mensen die in zwarte kleding, met gezichtsbedekking en uitgerust met wapens (messen, schroevendraaiers, hamers, skateboards, batterijen, knuppels, pistolen, molotovcocktails etc.) een gewelddadige confrontatie aangaan, gericht op mensen en publieke eigendommen zoals gebouwen, standbeelden etc.
